Summer Events at Sesame Place

As a Sesame Place Blog Ambassador for 2015, I was provided with a season pass. And I’m for some much needed “splashing water fun.” Summer-Fun-Sesame-Place

The last time we visited the park the water attractions were closed. But the official school just ended and summer is finally here. After the winter we had, I have a feeling summer is going to be brutal. And Sesame Place is the perfect place to cool off!

Aside from the fun family rides and water attractions – there’s so much going on this Summer on Sesame Place. From birthday bashes to fireworks, you are not going to want to miss out.

And if you’re a Big Bird or Super Grover Season Pass Member you get Early Ride Time ALL SUMMER LONG.

This year Sesame Place turns 35 and it’s a huge celebration. For the first time ever the park is decorated in a birthday party theme and there’s a brand new Neighborhood Street Party Parade.

I know for some autism parents – especially new ones – visiting an amusement can be daunting. But Sesame Place can be manageable for a first visit. They really make it accommodating for special needs families.

  • A few weeks ago I was sitting in his mother’s kitchen and she said something about a Manhattan Special. I never heard of it before. Obviously never tasted it before. And they were both completely shocked. A few days later, I’m helping her in the house with the groceries and she says, “I got you something.” She gives me a Manhattan Special. I love the bottle, the logo but I don’t know... Sal doesn’t like it but says I probably will. I’m kinda on the fence about drinking this. She said, some people like it with vanilla ice cream. I don’t drink espresso. Is this gonna have me bouncing off the walls?

  • Last week I introduced the kids to Junot Diaz. I say introduced because out of 28 kids, only a handful knew of him. I assigned “The Money” and they all loved it! One of the most rewarding things about teaching Eng Comp at Lehman College is introducing kids to authors who they can identify with and “speak” their language. And I know I’m assigning the right material when they’re all eager to raise their hands and share their thoughts. 💛This week, I’m introducing Miguel Piñero and Rosario Ferre. 👩🏻‍🏫
