Planning a Girls Weekend to the Pocono Mountains

A few weeks ago I was invited to attend the Bronx Moms Nights Out (#BXMNO) courtesy of Bronx Mama, Trendy Chaos and Pocono Mountains. The event came at just the right time. I got a massage, my cards read by a tarot reader and I got to chill with some of my favorite moms. It also got me thinking about planning a girls weekend getaway to the Pocono Mountains.

Living in NYC, the Poconos is an ideal getaway weekend. With no shortage of things to do, the Pocono Mountains is a fun destination for families, couples and friends at any time of year. And while I love traveling with my son, the #BXMNO event made me realize I need a weekend with my girls. With summer right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to start planning a girls weekend of fun and relaxation.

3 Simple Tips to Plan a Girls Weekend to the Poconos

Invite the Girls. First things first, get your girls together. Think about who you want to spend a few days with and why. Maybe it’s a group of old friends, your favorite mom friends or just a mix of girls you think would get along. Keep it small – maybe 4 to 6 of your favorite gal pals – and make sure that you’re inviting friends that know how to play nicely (especially if they don’t know each other).

Set the Date. This is probably the hardest part. Trying to coordinate a moms night out can be challenging so you may need to plan a few weeks (or months) out.

Pick a Destination. This is the fun part! And what’s more fun than a road trip? Living in The Bronx (or anywhere in NYC) the Pocono Mountains is such an easy girls weekend getaway. There’s so much to do all year round – from swimming, to hiking, skiing, horseback riding – there is something for everyone to do.  The Poconos also have amazing spas – so it’s the ultimate way to pamper yourself.

A great way to start this planning process is to invite the girls over for a planning party. This way you can all coordinate dates, review the Pocono Mountains website so you can find the ideal accommodations. And from there you can plan your weekend of activities as well as make spa and dinner reservations.

euphoria: the feeling or state of intense exciteme euphoria: the feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness 🌻 I may struggle with depression and anxiety but I also have moments of pure and genuine happiness. That is where I am right now. One of the gifts I’ve received in sobriety is the ability to hold space for all of my emotions. I feel them, I acknowledge them and I let them pass. For me, it’s in the passing where the power is... I don’t stay in it. ✨ 45 is going to be amazing. ✨

I do my hair, throw on some hoops, dab a little gloss and give myself a pep talk. Dear Me, I know you’re scared, but you can handle this. Keep going. Love, Me 🌻#selfcareseptember #radicalbodylove
No I’m sorry or explanation necessary. Just NO a No I’m sorry or explanation necessary. Just NO and keep it moving. ”No” is hard when you’re a people pleaser but boundaries are absolutely necessary. It’s something I’m learning to do to maintain my own peace of mind. Lack of boundaries invites lack of respect. And I respect myself way too much to allow anyone to disrespect me. 💥 periodt ✌🏼 #selfcareseptember #radicalbodylove

Describing myself in 25 words or less without using roles or physical features was not easy. It took a little time. But I did. Making healthy choices, setting boundaries is a daily practice. I am grateful I have the willingness to do so. I am grateful I can pause and breathe through my anxiety. I am grateful I have the courage to follow my dreams.
