Back to School Shopping Made Easy at Kohl’s

August 17, 2017 by Lisa 2 Comments

This post is sponsored by Kohl’s. I received the included back to school clothes and essentials as compensation.

I love shopping but there’s something about Back to School shopping that’s extra special. The first day of school is an event. Starting a new year deserves new clothes.

However, shopping for my 11-year-old son, Norrin can be challenging. He’s definitely in that awkward tween stage; too small for some young men’s clothing and too big for some kids styles. And because he’s built like his mama, he requires some specialty sizes. That’s right, my boy is a husky.

Then there’s the whole autism/sensory thing. He doesn’t do jeans. Pants with buttons and/or zippers are tricky for him – elastic waistbands are LIFE. Norrin is a rough and tumble kid that’s all about comfort.

Let’s not forget about the essentials: socks and underwear.

Whether shopping on line or in store, back to school shopping at Kohl’s is easy. From footwear to backpacks – Kohl’s has all the cool gear for a new school year. (See what I did there.)

Personally, I prefer to shop online. Within less than an hour, I stocked up on Norrin’s back to school essentials. And by downloading the Kohl’s app, I was able to keep track of my online order.

The Tek Gear Basic Mesh Shorts are perfect for Norrin – I ordered three pair and I’m ready to purchase a few more. Available in size husky, Tek Gear features DryTek fabric to wick away moisture and enhance comfort. They’ll take him through the first few weeks of school and (crossing fingers), they’re big enough to even fit through next spring. At the very least, the Tek Gear Basic Mesh Shorts are great for just lounging around the house.

I also ordered Norrin two 10-pk. of Tek Gear crew socks and the DryTek Long Performance boxer briefs.

Norrin also needed new tees. The Urban Pipeline Ultimate Raglan Tees are exactly the kind of tee Norrin needs – cotton and tagless! Kohl’s also has an amazing selection of character tees – it was hard to choose. Since Norrin is a Minecraft fan, I ordered two different tees (also cotton and tagless).

I did purchase a pair of Urban Pipeline jeans and a pair of Adidas jogger pants but they didn’t fit. Remember – awkward in between sizes stage.

For less than $200, I purchased 8 shirts, 3 shorts, a pair of jeans, a pair of jogger pants, 2 packs of socks, a pack of undershirts and a pack of underwear!

Now that I have a better idea of sizes, shopping in store with Norrin will be a little bit easier. I can pick up a few more back to school basics.

And since I’m going to start teaching this Fall, maybe I’ll treat myself to a few back to school items too. With Kohl’s Friends and Family Sale from August 17th-20th, how can I not? Receive 20% off with code SAVER.

Kohl’s is offering additional promotions. For $10 off $50 kids clothes, 8/4 – 8/20 use promo code: BTS10.

euphoria: the feeling or state of intense exciteme euphoria: the feeling or state of intense excitement and happiness 🌻 I may struggle with depression and anxiety but I also have moments of pure and genuine happiness. That is where I am right now. One of the gifts I’ve received in sobriety is the ability to hold space for all of my emotions. I feel them, I acknowledge them and I let them pass. For me, it’s in the passing where the power is... I don’t stay in it. ✨ 45 is going to be amazing. ✨

Describing myself in 25 words or less without using roles or physical features was not easy. It took a little time. But I did. Making healthy choices, setting boundaries is a daily practice. I am grateful I have the willingness to do so. I am grateful I can pause and breathe through my anxiety. I am grateful I have the courage to follow my dreams.
