Disclosure: We purchased our own NY Comic Con tickets and merchandise shown. However, we were invited to experience the world of Fantastic Beasts while at Comic Con. As always, all opinions are our own.
We’ve been going to comic conventions for years – long before our son, Norrin, was even born. I’ll admit, I have a love/hate relationship with the whole experience. Don’t get me wrong. It’s fun to see the cosplay and cool to see all the stuff (and there’s a lot of stuff). And nothing beats meeting your comic idols in real life.
But having a kid with autism can make NY Comic Con a little challenging. And it’s easier for us to pull Norrin out of school rather than take him over the weekend.
If you’ve never been to NY Comic Con – it’s something you should definitely experience at least once.

This year’s NY Comic Con was the best one yet. Joseph got an exclusive tour of the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them booth. He got to check out the costumes and even test out his wand skills.
I scored some pretty cool Funko POP Figures for myself. I am especially excited about the Strawberry Shortcake & Huckleberry Pie – they are SCENTED! And Joseph bought me the Hello Kitty as Boba Fett Sticker. We also picked up the Secret Life of Pets POP Figures for Norrin but those are already out of the box.
Joseph finally got Stan Lee’s autograph. And we all got a picture with Stan Lee! For those who don’t know, Norrin is named after The Silver Surfer – a comic book character created by Stan Lee.

We spent most of our time waiting on line for Stan Lee but meeting him was totally worth it. It’s a wonderful memory and a pretty cool keepsake.
We shared some of NY Comic Con experience via Instagram and Snapchat – you can watch it on our YouTube channel!
