Memorial Day came and went but the Summer season has officially kicked off. We don’t have any big vacation plans. Our summers are for weekend road trips and daycation adventures. As a Wayfair Homemaker, I’m excited to share all of our family daycation/roadtrip essentials.
As a kid, I’d watch as my mother would prepare all our daycation/road trip essentials. Plans would be made weeks in advance with other friends and family members. Food would be cooked and prepped the night before. We’d head out early – sometimes before sunrise.
Our summer destinations included Orchard Beach, Coney Island, FDR Park or Bear Mountain. It was an all day event and we returned home late in the evening tired and sun kissed.
By the time I was able to venture out on my own daycations – I kept it simple. Just a towel, baby oil (that’s how we rolled in the 90s) and maybe a magazine. No food, no coolers filled with cold drinks.

Now that I’m a mom I know better. I have to be prepared. And Wayfair makes it fun!
