It’s that spooky time of year. But have no fear! Cuddle up on the sofa, grab some popcorn and watch your favorite Family Friendly Halloween Movies!
And if you’re looking for suggestions, here are some of our favorites.
Earlier this week I was reflecting on our Halloweens past and far Norrin has come. Last night as we snuggled up on the sofa to watch ParaNorman, I couldn’t help but savor the moment.
The three of us watching a movie on a Saturday night. It may not seem like much to most folks but for our little familia, it was a moment that mattered.
There was a time when it was nearly impossible for Norrin to sit through a movie. Now we’re able to enjoy movies at home and in the movie theaters.
More Halloween Family Fun: Boo at The Zoo is Back!
It’s the little things like watching a movie that make us happy. We are like any other family on a Saturday night.
Joseph loves watching scary movies and was all ready to watch The Shining. I’m not a fan of scary movies. Not. At. All. Sleepy Hollow is the scariest movie I can handle. And since Norrin was up – we watched ParaNorman. What else will we watch this month?
Our Favorite Family Friendly Not So Scary Halloween Movies Click To Tweet
- ParaNorman. One of Norrin’s favorite movies! However, there is one line in the movie that he loves to script. We’re working on that.
- Coraline. This is one of my favorites. I don’t think Joseph has watched this one yet. We just ordered it in 3D so it should be fun.
- The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is Joseph’s favorite to watch at Halloween and Christmas. I’ll be honest, I think it’s just okay. I’ll sit through it but I don’t love it the way Joseph does.
- Toy Story of Terror. We love Toy Story. And this is cutest form of terror.
- Corpse Bride. I love this movie. And I heart Johnny Depp. Norrin and Joseph will sit through it but they don’t love it the way I do.
- Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. Joseph introduced Norrin to Wallace & Gromit and The Boy’s been a fan ever since. The two of them laugh non-stop through Wallace & Gromit. It’s sweet.
- Monsters vs. Aliens. It’s got monsters. It’s got aliens. Nuff said.
- Hocus Pocus. I want to introduce Hocus Pocus to Norrin this year. I don’t know if he’ll sit through it but it’s cute and funny and I want him to start watching more live action movies.
- Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I love this movie! Not a typical Halloween movie but there’s enough magic and mayhem for it to work. And I’ve been waiting to introduce it to Norrin. This year will be the year. He doesn’t have to sit through the whole thing. But I want to give him the opportunity.
- It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown! Our ultimate family favorite! No Halloween is complete without watching this Charlie Brown classic.
BONUS:
- The Boxtrolls
- The Book of Life. This is another movie that’s not really “Halloween” but what I love about this movie is that it celebrates The Day of the Dead.
What I love about these movies is that they appeal to the kid in all of us. What are your favorite Halloween movies to watch with the kids?
