There are some words and phrases in Spanish that I simply understand and use because there is no real translation for them – even for a Latina like me, who speaks no Spanish. Words like Friolenta or Buen Provecho. They’re the words I grew up hearing and they’re sprinkled throughout my vocabulary.

I’m always cold. Even in the summer months, I always have some kind of scarf or wrap. I can’t help it, I’m friolenta like that.
The leaves have turned shades of red and gold, and there’s a chill in the air. I’m the kinda of girl who is always cold — even while cooking a big ol Thanksgiving meal. At this time of year, whether indoors or out, you will find me dressed in layers.
Over the last few years, I’ve taken over Thanksgiving dinner. I love having my family over. But I don’t get dressed up. I don’t see the point of being dressed up just to be home. We’re not that kind of familia. We’re very casual. And I like to be comfortable especially while cooking and hosting. Being friolenta requires me to dress in layers because one second I’m hot, the next I’m cold.
While shopping at Target for my Thanksgiving must haves: the disposable tableware, the oven bags and the 3 Cs – coffee, cocoa, and cookies. Somewhere between the frozen food section and the detergent, I decided to also pick up a few things for myself.
That's what I love about @Target - I can buy what I need & what I want. #SinTraduccion #TargetPtr Click To Tweet
I’m obsessed with jogger pants. They’re roomy, they’re comfy and on a day like Thanksgiving when I’m cooking and snacking all day – they’re perfect! What I really love about them is that they have pockets. (P.S. I believe everything should have pockets.) I can move from room to room with my phone in my pocket. I purchased the Woman’s Jogger – Merona™ in black but honestly, I need them in every color. They’re ideal to wear lounging around the house or to run errands. (And I may have even worn them to work on a casual Friday.)
We missed Force Friday at Target and I practically squealed with delight when I found the Star Wars VII Logo Tee. After putting on some weight and I don’t feel comfortable wearing fitted tees the way I used to. But the Star Wars tee is perfect, it’s a loose fit that still feels feminine.

As friolenta as I am, I can’t be in the house with long sleeves, especially if I’m cooking. I need short sleeves. So cardigans and scarves are my best friends. Whenever I feel a chill, I can just throw it on. And I really just have a thing for scarves. I am loving the blanket scarf trend and this black and white one is my favorite thing. It’s super soft and wearing it makes me feel all kinds of cozy.
Speaking of cozy…I found the softest socks ever. And they were only $1.99. After hours in the kitchen, I love kicking up my feet and chilling out. Our family eats Thanksgiving dinner early so I love having the rest of the afternoon and early evening with them. We talk, we laugh, we watch our favorite movies.
Thanksgiving has never really been about the meal for us – it’s about the feeling of togetherness – whether it’s with family, friends or the friends that have replaced family. Thanksgiving is about sharing. It’s a time for looking back and reflecting on all that we are thankful for. Being surrounded by their love is the best thing to keep me warm.
