Walking distance from our apartment, we are here often. It’s a little on the small side but the food is big in flavor and totally worth the wait. It’s been featured on Channel 7 and the New York Times (twice!) and it’s Michelin rated.
If you’re looking for quick cup of coffee with mom or a leisurely meal with the paper and good company – this is the place for you. It’s laid back and the sofas and coffee tables give this coffee house a cozy living room feel.
Must order: Get a muffin. Any kind. Just get a muffin.
This little gem is located on City Island. Do yourself a favor – skip all the usual City Island eateries and go to Sugar & Spice. The food is like nothing you would ever expect having in The Bronx.

Tip: Be prepared – you can easily linger here for a few hours. The food and music is that good.
Tosca’s Weekend Brunch is quite popular and a favorite among Bronxites. With their wide selection of offerings and rooftop tables Mom will definitely feel special.
Tip: Make reservations!
Note: This is a great option if you’re treating mom. While they won’t object if you bring kids, there is no kids menu.

Interesting list. Great to know that I do not have to go to Manhattan for good food. Keeping our dollars right where we live!!
