There are few musical artists I can say I have grown up with. But Mary J. Blige is definitely at the top of the list. I’ve been a Mary fan since the early 90s with “Real Love.” It was one of those songs that just clicked in my head. It was like nothing I had ever heard. And her songs that followed always seemed to mirror moments of my life. From “I’m Goin Down,” “Not Goin Cry,” “No More Drama,” “All My Love,” “Be Without You” to “Just Fine.” Joseph and I even danced to “All I Need” at our wedding reception. In many ways Mary’s music is the soundtrack to my life.I am beyond excited about Mary’s new album “
I am beyond excited about Mary’s new album “The London Sessions” and if you’re a Mary fan like I am, you are not going to want to miss this…
“Doubt” – My absolute favorite! It’s a power anthem and I’m claiming it as my victory song for 2015. Listening to it will inspire you to be your best self and to stop doubting yourself. THIS LINE: “They said I’d never be someone, well now I’m pulling all the strings…”
“Nobody But You” – I don’t go to clubs anymore but if I did, I’d be grooving to this song. For now, I’ll have to blast it and dance around the apartment while cleaning. It has a classic R&B/Techno dance vibe.
“Worth My Time” – When I first heard this song, I couldn’t help but get emotional. It reminded me of moments in our marriage – those moments when we were just trying to get by. I think all couples have them. You have to remind yourself of the things that are important and stick together.
“The London Sessions” is an emotional journey; the lyrics are soulful, tough, tender and honest. Mary J. Blige sings of love, pain and the will to endure through it all. Mary reveals so much of herself through her music. And this album is a testament to her personal strength and growth as an musical artist.
