The moment I saw the Mariah Carey MAC Cosmetics collection, I fell in love. I guess you can say, it has me feeling emotions.
The Mariah Carey MAC Cosmetics Limited Edition Collection is everything you’d expect it to be: silver, sparkly, gold and glam.
I have been a Mariah fan for years. I’m not talking about “Touch My Body” or Nick Cannon Mariah. I’m talking “Visions of Love.” My high school years. I had her tapes. Not CDs, tapes. That’s going back.
A few years ago, I even saw her perform at Madison Square Garden on New Year’s Eve. When she sang “All I want for Christmas” it was so worth me leaving my husband and son home on New Year’s so I can experience Mimi in concert.
Here you go. You’re welcome…
Yeah – my Mariah loyalty runs deep. And even though I have no business purchasing any more makeup – the Mariah Carey MAC Collection was something I needed.
The packaging for the Mariah Carey MAC collection is exquisite.
Of course Mariah dots the “i” with a heart. I’m in the same age range as Mimi but if I tried to dot the “i” in my name with a heart – my friends would laugh at me. But it’s Mariah and she can sign her names as she pleases.

And the attention to detail is remarkable. I mean, only Mariah would have a butterfly engraved in the lipstick.
The Mariah Carey MAC Limited Edition Cosmetics Collection includes:
- 5 shades of lipsticks
- 2 shades of long-wearing lip pencils
- lip gloss in 5 colors – including 1 online exclusive
- 2 shades of blush
- 1 buffer brush (for powders)
- 2 eyeshadow palettes
- a gold shimmer loose powder
- a liquid/powder highlight
- an eye shader brush
- 2 sets of lashes
I purchased 1 lipstick, 1 lip pencil, 2 lip glosses and the eye shader brush.
What I Passed On
It’s a beautifully designed collection but many of the shades – though stunning – were similar to colors/palettes I already own. And to be honest, while all the shades are exclusive and some created by Mimi herself, they were a little (please forgive me) basic.
And as fabulous as the highlight is – it’s just not my shade.
I know some YouTubers raved about the loose powder and it’s a glamorous item to display on a vanity but just not for me. I know I wouldn’t use it.
The same with the lashes. I’ll leave the limited edition Mariah Carey Mac lashes to the hardcore makeup junkies.
What I Bought and Why
I love a nude lipstick as much as the next gal but all the colors were super frosted pinkish nude shades that just would be practical. (Yes, practicality plays into my makeup purchases.)
I purchased the shade I Set So OCC – a pretty brown frost that can be worn year around.
Because of my lipstick selection, I purchased the lip pencil in So Dramatique and the glosses in It’s Just Like Honey and Little Miss Monroe to pair with I Get So OCC.
Typically, I don’t buy expensive liquid eyeliner since I wear it so infrequently. But I was sold by the packaging and I love that it’s a warm chocolate brown. I like wearing black eyeliner but I feel like brown is more wearable for everyday.
And the only reason why I purchased the eye shader brush was because I knew I would regret it if I didn’t.
I learned this lesson on the day the Mac Selena collection launched in stores. I stood on line for an hour and didn’t include the brush in my order. By the time I got into the store to purchase my order, the brushes were sold out. BUT a little Mac birdie told me that the Selena collection was going to be restocked sooner rather than later.
To add my to my Mariah Carey fever, I just watched the first the two episodes of Mariah’s World on E!. Seriously – if you’re a Mimi fan and haven’t watched – you MUST. And if you think Mariah is a difficult diva – think again. She may surprise you.
