Norrin is a tech kid and if you know us (or follow us) you know that we are all about tech tools for learning and fun. When approached to review the Innotab MAX by vtech I immediately jumped at the chance because I love introducing Norrin to the latest tech for kids. And between us…I wanted something new to break him away from another certain tablet.
I was immediately impressed upon opening the box. The InnoTab MAX came with headphones (YAY!) and a carrying case – the tablet also has a handle and stylus. It was compact and perfect for little hands. It’s lightweight yet durable. (We’ve been using it over the weekend, taking it in the car and it fits easily into my bag.) And I loved that it could be used horizontally, vertically and the cover also featured as a stand. It gave Norrin versatility while playing.
On top of an adaptable design that features a tough, kid-friendly cover, the InnoTab® MAX has a 7” multi-touch screen with high-resolution display, and over 600 cartridges, downloads and even carefully-selected educational Android apps that lets parents exchange texts, voice messages, photos, drawings and fun stickers with their kids via their smartphones.
Norrin couldn’t wait to get playing! He was excited to play Toca Boca Pet Doctor. It was cute…he was all like “Oooooooooooh it’s Toca Boca!” And because Norrin loves to take pictures and video, he loves that the InnoTab MAX can do both.
Norrin will be 9 years old in January and his skills are all over the chart. Norrin is still into Dora, Thomas the Train and Bubble Guppies (all software available for purchase) but his reading is at age-level. What I like about the InnoTab MAX is that he can still play games at his learning level and age level. So it offers everything we want and need.
With the Lil’ Speller Phonics Station, children will learn letters and their sounds by building more than 200 three letter words. He or she can hear the letter sounds by plugging in the letter blocks or learn letter order by determining which letter is missing. The Record & Learn KidiStudio™ by VTech lets kids sing, record and play back their own musical masterpieces. They can play along with 20 melodies in four popular music styles using the voice changer, sound effects and instruments. And The Smart Shots Sports Center™, lets kids toss the basketball into the hoop to score points, or kick the soccer ball into the net to hear fun sounds.
We were provided with an InnoTab MAX tablet for review purposes. No other compensation was received. All opinions are our own.
