This morning I stepped on the scale…179 pounds. Last New Year’s Day I stepped on the scale and nearly 10 pounds lighter. My resolution last year was to lose weight.
I gained instead of lost.
On day 13 of the 30 day squat challenge – after completing 130 squats. |
Back in November I shared my frustration about the weight I’ve gained. Yet still have not lost a single pound. I don’t even think I’ve been to the gym since that day.
What I did do was the 30 day squat challenge. I began on December 1st with 50 squats. It seemed like a silly challenge to commit to on the last month of the year while being tempted with cookies, meals and cocktails. There’s a reason why the gym is empty the last two months of the years and packed in January.
But on December 29th, I did 240 squats. 240 SQUATS! I never made it to December 30th. My mother had Norrin for an overnight. Joseph and I decided to go out after work for dinner and drinks. And the next day was New Year’s Eve…nuff said.
But this morning after I weighed myself I decided it was time to start over. So I did 50 squats. The first 25 with weights, the second 25 without. And this month I will finish.
Will you join me?
Now before you think to yourself “I can’t do that!” I am here to say you can.
You can, because I can.
I am not a fitness junkie (I am lazy). And I love junk food (I love cookies, cake, bacon and potatoes). I don’t always have the time (I don’t always want to make the time). I had to really commit.
I did it in front of the television while watching Food Network or HGTV.
I skipped a few days during the challenge. And then I caught up. I did it at my own pace. I’d rest between sets.
And I made it to the 29th day/240 squats and I’m proud of that.
I didn’t lose any weight this month but I see the difference in my body. I have a little two-pack starting, my arms look a little more defined and my butt feels tighter.
Those first few days were painful. There were mornings it hurt to walk. But my body got used to it. And I felt good moving.
I am not going to say I want to lose weight this year. That’s not my New Year resolution. All I want to do is make more time to exercise.
Will you join me?
