Art mural on the wall upon entering La Casa Azul |
One of my favorite places in the city is La Casa Azul Bookstore. More than just a bookstore featuring Latino authors, La Casa Azul celebrates art, music and culture. La Casa Azul hosted an event to honor Frida Kahlo’s life and legacy. Frida is iconic and inspirational. I admire her strength, honesty and ability to paint her pain. It was wonderful to be among women who felt the same.
I can’t go into La Casa Azul bookstore without buying a book. It’s impossible. When I saw this one, I knew I had to have it!

The lovely ladies who attended the event at La Casa Azul. |
Now through November 1, 2015 – the New York Botanical Gardens (in The Bronx) will host a major exhibition: Frida Kahlo’s Garden.

That is fabulous! I would love to attend that exhibit.
BTW, you totally rocked the Frida look.

I read an interesting book last fall by Barbara Kingsolver called "Lacuna" and it featured Frida Kahla as a character in the book. Love the picture!

Your hairstyle is brilliant! I have admired Frida Kahlo since discovering her through the movie based on her life. Your blog is chock full of ideas that I would like to explore more. I hope to return!
